The IVY: A Four-Floor Landmark Furnished as One Destination
Four Floors, One Material Language
Official: The Ivy Collection | Instagram: @the_ivy_collection
Set in The Pavilion on Byrom Street, The IVY Manchester brings four floors of dining together in one landmark address in the city's Spinningfields quarter. The venue unites an all-day brasserie, private dining suites, an Asia-inspired floor and a retractable-roof rooftop garden under a single, recognisable aesthetic.

"Furnishing four different floors is where a project usually comes apart. RON GROUP gave us one accountable partner, custom pieces built for constant covers, and a schedule we could plan the opening around." — The IVY Manchester Team
Delivering roughly five hundred and thirty-five covers demanded more than catalogue furniture, because every banquette, chair and table top had to survive relentless service while holding the venue's material story. Coordinating that scope across a brasserie, private suites, an Asia-inspired restaurant and a rooftop garden required a single sourcing partner rather than a string of suppliers.

The Brief Behind the Landmark
The IVY Manchester opened in late 2018 as one of the largest restaurant launches in Britain that year, occupying four floors of The Pavilion in the heart of Spinningfields. The programme stacked an all-day British brasserie, dedicated private dining suites, an opulent Asia-inspired restaurant and the city's first all-weather roof garden into one vertical destination.
The interior language leans on emerald velvet, marble, brushed brass and generous foliage, an aesthetic built to photograph as well as to serve. Each floor reinterprets that palette, from the botanical murals and gold detailing of the Asia level to the relaxed clubhouse warmth of the dining floors below.

Client Needs
The brief asked for durable commercial furniture that could absorb a high volume of daily covers across every level. It also demanded strong design distinction per floor held together by one cohesive material identity, plus weather-proof solutions for the open rooftop.
- High-strength seating and tables engineered for continuous restaurant and bar service
- Per-floor styling that still reads as one destination brand
- Weather-resilient outdoor furniture and shading for the rooftop terrace
- Cross-category coordination with a single accountable delivery partner
How We Meet the Vision
RON GROUP approached the venue as one furnishing programme rather than four separate tenders, aligning every product to the design intent floor by floor. Sourcing ran direct from specialist factories, with sampling and finish checks completed before mass production.
Custom Banquettes and Velvet Seating
Upholstered banquettes and velvet chairs were specified in a coordinated green-toned palette that matches the venue's clubhouse personality. Deep-pile and performance fabrics were selected so high traffic would not show wear across repeated seating.

Statement Materials That Anchor Each Floor
The Asia-inspired level draws its drama from a glossy green agate-tile floor, mirrored bars and gilded ceilings that the furniture echoes rather than competes with. Gold and brass detailing on chairs and table bases ties those surfaces back to the rest of the building.

Entry and Private Dining Drama
First impressions are choreographed at the entrance, where floral murals, brass handrails and warm lighting build anticipation before the dining room. The same botanical motif is carried into private suites so that celebrations retain the restaurant's signature atmosphere.

Layered Greenery and Warm Light
Generous planting and sculptural greenery soften hard surfaces throughout the venue, framing banquettes and bar counters with a garden-like calm. Warm lamp shades and chandeliers layer the lighting so each floor shifts naturally from daytime brasserie to evening venue.

From Specification to Site
Furniture was produced in dedicated factory runs with finishes sampled and signed off before full manufacturing began. Delivery was phased to match each floor's fit-out, and every piece was inspected before installation to avoid last-minute surprises.
