A Riverfront Japanese Dining Landmark in Ferrara

ristoranteyun.it | @ristoranteyunferrara

On the bank of the Po di Volano river, Yun brings three decades of Asian dining heritage into a contemporary Japanese experience. The venue pairs an extensive sushi and sake program with a refined space of dark wood, green marble, and warm ambient light, establishing itself as one of Ferrara's most distinctive dining destinations.

Project Background

Yun began in Ferrara in 1995 as one of the city's first Asian restaurants and grew into a beloved local institution. A comprehensive renovation reimagined the venue as a contemporary Japanese dining destination, oriented toward the river with a design language of deep wood, green marble, and crafted concrete finishes. Today the restaurant is known for its sushi, sake selection, and signature Italian-made stainless steel chopsticks.

Green and gray upholstered booths with intricate wall art frame large windows overlooking the river and historic skyline.

The layout guides guests from the entrance through the dining room toward the riverfront glazing, with a lowered ceiling volume that conceals services while shaping the journey through the space.

How We Meet the Vision

Green Marble Bar Centerpiece

The green marble counter anchors the bar zone, with black shelving displaying an extensive liquor and sake collection beside the water-facing windows.

Dark Wood and Crafted Finishes

Deep wood ceilings, slat details, and concrete tables bring a contemporary Japanese character that complements the preserved handcrafted wood relief.

Comfortable High-Turnover Seating

Upholstered booths and cushioned seating support both relaxed dining and the venue's all-you-can-eat evening service without compromising comfort.

Warm Layered Lighting

Ambient pendant lighting and indirect illumination create a serene atmosphere that evolves from lunch to evening service.

Yun dark wood and concrete design
Low concrete tables, black cushioned seating, and warm pendant lights frame intricate dragon wall art that ties the interior to Japanese tradition.

Process

RON GROUP coordinated the furniture and decor package from the initial design consultation through final delivery. Working with the design team's vision, our sourcing specialists matched green marble surfaces, dark wood elements, and upholstered seating to the venue's refined character, ensuring each piece met the durability demands of daily service while preserving the cohesive material palette.
