Tvino: A Warm Neighbourhood Spanish Tavern in Shanghai

Red Brick, Warm Wood, and Yellow Banquettes: A Shanghai Spanish Tavern

Tvino Spanish Tavern opened in Shanghai's PAC commercial district in early 2025, bringing a neighbourhood-scale Spanish dining experience to the Jing'an area. The venue pairs an authentic Spanish menu with a wine-led bar programme, dry-aged steaks, and a relaxed tavern atmosphere. Its interior of red brick, red-tiled floors, wooden tables, and mustard-yellow banquettes was designed to feel like a corner of Spain rather than a corporate restaurant.

"RON GROUP understood that a Spanish tavern is about warmth and informality. The wooden tables, banquettes, and bar seating give the room a relaxed, characterful feel that matches our food and wine programme." — Tvino Team

Brand Background

Tvino was curated into PAC as an independent brand with a distinctive point of view, part of a commercial project that deliberately avoided mainstream chains in favour of personality-led operators. The restaurant's concept centres on authentic Spanish cooking, a wide selection of international wines, and dry-aged steaks, supported by a tavern-style room that encourages long, unhurried meals. The name itself plays on wine, and the drinks programme is treated as equal to the food rather than an afterthought.

The design language draws on the Spanish tavern tradition: red brick and red-tiled floors, wooden tables with cross-back chairs, yellow banquettes along the windows, and pendant lights that keep the room warm after dark. Exposed ceiling pipes and an open kitchen add an industrial note, so the space feels contemporary without losing its tavern character. The same palette continues outdoors, where wicker chairs, checkered tablecloths, and green-striped seating extend the room to the street.

Tvino red tiles and open kitchen
Red-tiled floors, white brick walls, and stacked firewood frame the open kitchen, giving the room its earthy, tavern-like texture.

The floor plan organizes the venue into clear service zones: an open kitchen, a bar service area, dessert and cold-food counters, flexible dining tables, high-top seating, and a wine display zone. This layout keeps staff movement short and lets guests choose between a quick drink at the bar, a full meal at a central table, or a window-side seat on a banquette. The result is a restaurant that can flex between coffee, lunch, dinner, and late wine service in the same room.

How We Meet the Vision

Wooden Tables Built for Tavern Warmth

Rustic wooden tables and cross-back chairs form the backbone of the dining room, with finishes chosen to age gracefully under daily use. The wood tones tie every zone together, from the window banquettes to the high-top seating, so the room reads as one coherent space.

Banquettes and Bar Stools for Every Guest

Mustard-yellow banquettes along the windows give longer meals a comfortable, enclosed feel, while bar stools at the counter serve quick visits and wine-led evenings. The mix lets the venue shift between dining, drinking, and socialising without reconfiguration.

Open Kitchen and Bar as Part of the Room

The open kitchen and bar service area are arranged so guests see the cooking and the wine wall without service traffic crossing the dining floor. Wooden shelving, firewood stacks, and display counters become part of the decor while keeping operations efficient.

Outdoor Seating in the Same Language

Wicker chairs, checkered tablecloths, and green-striped outdoor chairs extend the tavern palette to the street, with warm lighting keeping the terrace inviting after dark. The outdoor zone effectively adds a second room to the venue during mild evenings.

Process

RON GROUP coordinated the furniture package for Tvino across its indoor dining, bar, and outdoor zones, covering tables, chairs, banquettes, bar stools, and high-top seating in a single sourcing programme. Every piece was selected to match the red-brick, wood, and yellow palette of the venue while meeting the durability demands of a busy neighbourhood restaurant. The floor plan guided placement so that service routes stayed short and each zone kept its own character.

Tvino floor plan and service zones
The coordinated floor plan aligned the open kitchen, bar, flexible dining, high-top, and wine display zones into one efficient service flow.

With the floor plan as reference, the furniture was placed so each service zone kept its own character while the room worked as one operation. Delivery followed the same zone-by-zone order, letting the bar and kitchen areas come together before the dining floor reached its final styling.

Tvino outdoor terrace at night
The night-time terrace pairs wicker chairs and checkered tablecloths with warm lighting, carrying the tavern atmosphere outdoors.

Outdoor furniture was selected to survive Shanghai's humid summers and cool evenings while keeping the tavern palette intact. The terrace arrangement lets the venue expand its capacity during mild weather without changing the indoor room at all.

Green-striped chairs and round tables extend the venue to the street, with the illuminated facade drawing evening guests.
