Softening an Industrial Melbourne Warehouse with European Bistro Furniture at Lilac Wine
Official: Lilac Wine Bar Melbourne | Instagram: Lilac Wine Bar Instagram
Tucked inside a converted brick warehouse on Stephenson Street in Cremorne, Melbourne, Lilac Wine is an intimate neighborhood wine bar and bistro created by The Mulberry Group. To transform raw industrial concrete, exposed brickwork, and steel ceiling trusses into a welcoming 75-seat dining room and 120-capacity wine bar, the venue required furniture that projected classic European warmth and effortless social flow. RON GROUP partnered with the hospitality team to supply bentwood dining chairs, solid timber bistro tables, communal banquet tables, cushioned bar stools, globe pendant lighting, and commercial tableware.
"RON GROUP delivered bistro seating, communal tables, and tabletop pieces that brought immediate warmth and commercial reliability to our Cremorne warehouse space." — Lilac Wine Team
Heritage Brick Architecture and Intimate Bistro Flow
Converting an urban warehouse into an inviting wine bar demanded careful spatial calibration so the high-ceilinged room felt energetic rather than cavernous. Large industrial steel-framed windows flood the perimeter with natural light during afternoon aperitivo hours before transitioning to a moody, candlelit bistro atmosphere after dusk.
Anchoring the room is a long walk-in timber bar stocked with minimal-intervention wines and framed by trailing indoor greenery. Positioning two-top and four-top bistro tables parallel to the bar encourages spontaneous walk-in drinks alongside full multi-course dining.
Client Needs and High-Turnover Wine Bar Specifications
Because guests visit Lilac Wine for everything from casual counter pours to twenty-person shared feasts, the furniture package needed to combine lightweight flexibility with heavy-duty commercial joinery. Every chair and tabletop finish was selected to complement the heritage masonry while withstanding nightly wine and charcuterie service.
- Classic European bentwood dining chairs in warm walnut and matte-black finishes engineered with reinforced commercial joints.
- Modular timber bistro tables and extended communal banquet tables that adapt quickly to group reservations.
- Upholstered green counter stools positioned near the open wood-fired kitchen and bar pass.
- Soft opal-glass spherical pendant lights and commercial wine glassware that enhance evening hospitality ambiance.
How We Meet the Vision
1. Communal Tasting Tables and Thonet-Inspired Seating
For group bookings and seasonal tasting menus, RON GROUP supplied sleek matte-black communal tables paired with classic timber bentwood chairs. The slim silhouette of the bentwood seating maximizes legroom and visual openness across the concrete floor while delivering timeless Parisian bistro character.
2. Flexible Round Bistro Tables and Partitioned Alcoves
Along the black steel-framed glass partitions, circular bistro tables and matte-black dining chairs create cozy pockets for smaller groups of three to four guests. Scratch-resistant commercial lacquer protects the tabletops from daily wine decanting, hot skillets, and rapid resets.
3. Open-Kitchen Counter Stools and Private Event Styling
Where the dining room meets the open wood-fired kitchen pass, green cushioned stools and timber high-tables invite diners to watch the culinary team in action. Soft sage-green upholstery introduces a subtle botanical accent that contrasts beautifully with the red-brick walls and white globe pendants.
Streamlined Procurement and Quality Assurance
Sourcing furniture, lighting, and tabletop accessories through RON GROUP enabled The Mulberry Group's project team to maintain strict design consistency while meeting tight opening schedules. Pre-shipment inspections verified chair frame stability, wood stain uniformity, and glassware clarity prior to Melbourne delivery.
